Athens, K, Bike Polo

As we mentioned before, a really nice fellow named K took us in and showed us a great time in Athens. We were tempted to stay and squat the vacant apartment nextdoor to him, but the road was callin’ us as usual.

K works for a company called Swagger that puts on bike races. He seems to know everyone in Athens. He took us out on the town a few nights. One night we played pool with a couple of pro racers from the area. Consequently, K and I can say that we worked the US Crit Champion Jon Murphy in pool.

K took us to the two Athens landmarks- the double-barelled cannon and the Tree that Owns Itself.

K is a bike polo star and tried to get me to play (I’m pathetic). He has an awesome polo bike with homemade disc. He put Drunky Crow on it, but we are trying to get him to make one with Pedobear.

Here I am as a demonic bike polo player.

That’s K on the right with the elbow pads bombing the polo court.

We also did a little volunsmeering at Athens Bike Recyling Program.

Though it was tempting to stay in Athens, we rode out yesterday. Beyond Athens the real hills start. Yesterday was a fun ride with lots of rollers.

Why does the (previously) pleasant black girl have creepy demon eyes? She was so nice before.

Maybe it’s just that reading about people not getting eaten by alligators is boring.

I like the picture of you with the tree that owns itself, though.

k- people comment much more when we are miserable and having a terrible time. it’s a phenomenon i’ve been observing since the advent of our blog. i believe it’s what the Germans call “schadenfreude.”
