Getting My Bearings
You know you’re a bike mechanic when ball bearings fall out of your bags at random intervals during the week, which just happened to me in the middle of a coffee shop. It was only slightly embarrassing and comical at once.

Can I has this beautiful tandem?
Our dedicated reader Rob alerted me to this internet gem:

My housemate/coworker Sharlyn and I are in the midst of planning a bicycle tour to Detroit for the U.S. Social Forum. There is talk of me riding the salvaged Specialized beater bike and then sacrificing it to the gods of donated bicycles upon our arrival in the city.
I plan on being more responsible about contributing regular blog fodder in the coming weeks. Right now it’s time to go back to work and collect more ball bearings.

They both have ugly ears! God I hate the slutty “body mod” culture!!!!!!!!!! I call for DEATH!!!!!!!
So, uh, what happened to the more regular posting in coming weeks? All we have to keep us entertained is frog raping from Jared
haha i know i guess i should remove that part because it makes me look bad. i’m clearly not sticking to the plan.
Lauren frisk does not make plans
I make the plans.
NANERPUSS!!!!
those were the days…i’m still pretty sad that expedition never panned out.
The video always cheers me up. I especially like how nanerpuss looses an eye halfway through his dance.
Hey, Count me as another regular reader, I just got caught up. Thanks Lauren for continuing this amazingly brilliant and always sober blog. I was in a daze for a month then sick for a while then read your blog again. It’s true the West Coast is pretty rad, I’ve biked to the other side and come home. This ain’t about me though. Thanks for being you and sharing it all over the inter-webs. Much love good luck.
thanks for reading clay!
Great idea, but ride your bike up to Manitowoc, WI and then take the ferry “Badger” http://www.ssbadger.com/home.aspx across Lake Michigan to Ludington, MI and ride on to Detroit. Just skip all that messy frantic stuff south of Chicago and get what amounts to a cheap cruise besides. I took my two daughters on it and they loved it.
Woah- That is a great idea, Tom! I’m definitely going to propose that.
seems like a job for the longbike, but no?
But how will you get back?
