La Serpiente

Mira lo que el gato ha traído (look what the cat dragged in).

We found the landlord’s feline playing with a (mostly) dead baby eyelash viper right outside our apartment. It was literally 2 feet from our front door!

These snakes are most well known for displaying a brilliant yellow color, but Mr. Kiki was wrestling with a green one, similar to the photo above. Apparently they are commonly found in trees, eat small vermin, and like to be near a consistent source of water.

great big gobs of greasy grimey gopher guts

Eyelash vipers are tiny snakes not known for being aggressive towards yoomans, but if threatened they will administer a potentially very deadly bite. Apparently around 3-6 deaths per year in Costa Rica are attributed to bites from these little serpents. They might even make their way to your town; the eyelash viper is regularly found as a stowaway in banana shipments worldwide.
