Nail in the Fixie Coffin
Many bike cohorts and I used to talk about how someone should manufacture a really really cheap single speed bike. Seriously, it seems ridiculous that they can sell these $75 full suspension pieces of shit (not for off road use), but they can’t make a cheap single speed road bike. Well, looks like the king of really really cheaply manufactured stuff has caught on to the idea just in time to sound the death knell in the fixed gear craze.
Here it is, folks. The $150 fixie.

It’s one of those elusive Mongooses. Super obscure. I could tell you where to go look for one, but I really don’t think you’d find it. If you do decide to go Mongoose hunting, make sure to wear skinny jeans, an overpriced American Apparel shirt, and a bandana.

Who’s the market for those things? And if new bikes keep getting cheaper and cheaper, how am I going to sell a used bike and make any money?
well, tom. it weighs 40 lbs. it’s not exactly a nice bike…just a cheap bike.
