Nailed it

For those of you wondering whether we’re living in the air conditioned and well fed comfort of Lar’s parents house or are a pair of decomposing corpses and oxidizing bicycles somewhere in the woods – it’s the former, we made it to Virgina Beach….on Tuesday afternoon. I figured the old Lar would have made a post about it by now, I guess it’s my turn.

We didn’t actually ride all the way here. We were picked up by Lar’s pa pa and given a ride from the beginning of the east coast sprawl outside of Yorktown. (about 50 miles short of Virginia Beach) Yorktown happens to be where the “Bikecentennial” route terminates, which a very popular coast-to-coast bike route.  On it we saw a few other tourists touring, and we were given ample stink eye whenever we requested water without buying anything from the local stores.

All in all it was a mostly uneventful trip, but still better than smoking pot and internetting in a musty basement all day. All-in-all Lar rode about 800 miles and I rode around 1000.

There were some flat tires, dumpster dives, clogged toilets, friendly folk, visits to McDonald’s and one confirmed methhead. Look forward to all that and then some in Lars up coming Crazy Guy on a Bike journal. Well written (she’s an English major y’know) and full of all the minor details that you creeps seem to enjoy.

Costa Rica on Monday!

It’s the punishment for giving up and biting into the Tootsie Roll Pop too soon.

That sounds a little bit perverse.
